BP is deploying RFID technology to track its supply chain during construction of the $7 billion Clair Ridge oil platform located in the North Sea.
BP has selected Mojix Inc., a provider of broad-area passive RFID options, to produce a track-and-touch technology alternative that supplies real-time visibility of oil platform components going from suppliers located around the globe to the stage’s building site.
BP is using the solution to track and manage supply chain assets like tracking crates, heavy lift and out-of- gauge equipment, containers and boats to improve safety and efficiency throughout the construction stage.
Mojix’s STAR 3000 system produces next-generation wide-area passive RFID technology at warehouses and yards, enriching BP’s supply chain visibility and resulting in cost savings and risk mitigation for the gas and oil sector giant.
“Mojix has delivered an innovative and whole tracking option that allows BP to surveil its freight throughout the entire supply chain process ,” said material direction PSCM team lead for BP Clair Ridge, Andy Dovey. “This ensures that we are able to manage our stuff in a more planned and effective style.”
